
Structure
The MI-EL Christian School Student Council is a democratic institution that exists to represent the voice of the students in all matters affecting them. Any student can apply to be elected as a member of this council starting 1st Grade. An essential characteristic is the desire to serve and propose new ideas that benefit the group.
- President: Leads the student council, both in internal and external activities that require their representation. Summons the group meetings and requests such with the School Principal. Channels the suggestions and queries of the student body. A 9th grade student.
- Vice- president: Supports the President and substitutes them in case of absence. An 8th grade student.
- Secretary: Registers council meetings and channels any written communication the student body wants to send the School Principal. A 7th Grade student.
- Treasurer: Registers funds raised by the council and delivers to accounting in order to carry out the corresponding deposit. A 6th grade student.
- Course Delegate: Each grade (1st to 9th) will have a representative who will participate in general council meetings and will be his group’s spokesperson on decision-making.
Functions
- To be spokesperson on queries, suggestions or critiques of the student body.
- Participate in general meetings along with coordinators and the Principal in order to make important decisions that affect the student body.
- Actively support all the activities programmed by the institution.
- Represent the school in external activities that require their participation.
Student council member profile
- Testimony of a Christian life.
- Ability to represent other’s opinions, not necessarily theirs.

Student council selection procedure
- Each grade will perform an internal election for their “course delegate”. Up to three candidates can be nominated in order to perform the internal elections.
- From sixth grade forward, the possibility for running for any directive position is open.
- Candidacy inscriptions are opened for directive positions, candidates must present their curriculum vitae and a date will be appointed for their speech.
- After each candidate has delivered their speech, a date will be set for elections and thus meeting the “NEW STUDENT COUNCIL”.
