MI-EL Christian School is a true testimony of the love and faithfulness of our Father God. It is private Christian institution; developed as an extension of the “Iglesia de Cristo Ministerios Elim” in the Dominican Republic. It was founded on September of 2000 after a long wait and preparation in the Lord by Pastor Fernando Ortiz and his wife Walesca de Ortiz, after which they had the vision of preparing a generation strengthened on principles of Truth to be a living testimony of Jesus Christ in this society and the entire world.
The school is centered in the verse that says: “…and Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature”, Luke 2:52, therefore, its aim is to be an instrument so that each student can develop spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically. MI-EL is based on God’s Word and in Jesus Christ as the center of everything.

In its first year, the school started at MI-El Church’s facilities located on 40 Privada Avenue with only 33 students, from Nursery to 4th grade of elementary school with the vision of increasing one grade per year.
On the year 2002, MI-El Church started the construction process of what would be the new temple, and it was there when the Lord provided for the purchase of the church’s neighboring property to be fit out as the new School’s premises. This entire process happened on the summer of that same year only two months before starting over the next school year.
At the end of 2002-2003 school year, the first 6th grade promotion was held with only two students. That same year, the school received the official approval from the Dominican Educational Ministry formally obtaining its acknowledgement. In the year 2004, the Educational Ministry carried out an evaluation of all private schools with the purpose of classifying them. It was with great joy that MI-El School was granted with the excellent category in this evaluation.
God has been present distinctly in each one of our student, leaving a perpetual trace in the heart of each one as on the hearts of the organizers.
About the middle of 2004-2005 school year, MI-El organized its masculine basketball team, which in their first sport exchange obtained the first place. From its beginning the school has organized the following activities: The Scientific Fair, Marathon, Elementary and Middle School Retreats, Mother’s day Activity and Closing School Year Performance; all of them being instituted as part of each school year agenda. Other activities have been added such as the Literary Fair, the Spelling Bee, Grandparent’s Day, and Math Olympics. On 2009, the school participated for the first time on the Biblical Olympics obtaining 1st place and on 2010 3rd. It has also been a great privilege to participate on the United Nations Model since the year 2007.
Every year, the school organizes its annual retreat, which has been of vital importance for the spiritual growth of teachers as well as for students. They are specially designed, one for Pre-School and the other for Elementary and Middle School. God has been present distinctly in each one of them, leaving a perpetual trace in the heart of each student as on the hearts of the organizers.
On May of 2005, the elaboration of the Institution Educational Project begins in order to define the organizational structure of the school, as it was, together with other aspects, fundamental in the determination of the vision and mission of the Institution. By means of the diagnosis findings, it was determined that the school had to concretize its pedagogic model since all of our characteristics tended to be those of a bilingual school but they were not well defined. For this same reason, the decision of developing an English immersion program was taken, starting on the 2006-2007 school year by means of a strategic plan to be completed in three years. This implied the need of changing the school’s name and logo, which officially was changed to: MI-EL Christian School.
